Costing resources for supporting data sharing on the SPARC Portal
We know that systems-level research is complex. Your work may be interwoven across multiple organs, approaches, molecular mechanisms and deciding how to best organize your data into publishable units can be difficult. That’s why we have built SPARC to support multi-species, multi-modal data and our curation team is available to help you at every step of the way. And since data sizes vary so greatly - from code and devices to large cleared tissue imaging studies, our curation and publishing offerings are structured so that project number and dataset size are independent variables.
Why are there costs associated with contributing?
SPARC accepts funds from those submitting data to defray curation, repository, maintenance, and other operating costs. The integrated SPARC infrastructure that facilitates interactive visualization and in depth analyses of SPARC data, revealing new insights and facilitating discoveries. These funds ensure your experiment is shared using FAIR standards and highlighted on the SPARC Portal and to the scientific community through SPARC community outreach channels.
Whether you have data to share now, or are planning to share data from your upcoming funding proposal, you can review the cost per dataset in the below section.
You can include funds in your proposal applications for data sharing efforts both by SPARC and by members of your lab. There are a few locations in your proposal where you can include the budgetary information.
We ask that you let us know when you include funds for SPARC in your proposals. This helps us plan to support you and it also helps us when we are writing our own funding proposals. Keep us in the loop by sending your details via this form .
